About the Speakers:

Ms Christine Loh 

Under Secretary at Environment Hong Kong

Ms. Christine Loh was appointed Under Secretary for the Environment in September 2012 and until she stepped down on September 11, 2012 was the Chief Executive Officer of the non-profit public policy think tank Civic Exchange. Prior to founding Civic Exchange in 2000, Ms. Loh had spent nearly a decade as a politician and member of the Legislative Council (1992-97 and 1998-2000).

Ms. Loh received her bachelor's degree in law from the University of Hull and her master's degree in Chinese and comparative law from the City University of Hong Kong.  

Before joining the Legislative Council, Ms. Loh held senior regional positions in commodities trading, as well as in project negotiation. She had been the Chairperson of the Panel on Environmental Affairs (1995-96 and 1998-2000), and founded or served on boards of a wide range of non-governmental organisations in Hong Kong and overseas concerning a variety of issues including environmental protection, urban planning and design, and equal opportunity.

Dr Jeanne Ng 
Director - Group Sustainability at CLP Power Hong Kong Limited

Dr. Jeanne Ng is responsible for CLP Group's sustainability matters, including sustainability-related strategy, reporting and communications. She holds a BSc in Toxicology from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Environmental Management from the University of Hong Kong.  She was also a member of the Working Group of the International Integrated Reporting Council as well as the Advisory Council of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.

Ms Andrea Leung
Climate Change Policy Adviser at the British Consulate-General Hong Kong

Andrea advises the British Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau on climate change and energy issues. She is responsible for delivering the UK international strategies for tackling climate change with a focus on Hong Kong and the region. Before joining the British Consulate-General Hong Kong, she provided consultancy and training services to organisations within both private and public sectors as well as schools and universities.  She worked for Axis Consulting, Hyder Consulting and Hong Kong Productivity Council in the past.  Andrea holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a MSc in Environmental Management from the University of Manchester.

Opening Remarks:

Ms Shalini Anand

Consul Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service at the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong

Ms. Shalini Anand is currently Consul and head of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service at the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong.  Prior to that, she worked as Deputy Director in the Office of the Deputy Minister of International Trade in Ottawa, Canada.  She has also completed a previous posting in Hong Kong.  In Ottawa, she worked as the Executive Advisor to Canada’s Chief Trade Commissioner and Senior Assistant Deputy Minister of Global Operations, and also held various positions in the Business Sectors Bureau of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.  Prior to joining the Canadian Foreign Service, Ms. Anand worked as a Policy Advisor at the Canada School of Public Service and at the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada.  She has received Government of Canada Exemplary Leadership, Deputy Minister and Team Excellence awards for her work in Ottawa and abroad. 
 
Ms. Anand speaks English, French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada.  She attended the University of Toronto where she received a degree in commerce and international relations.

About the Moderator:

Ms Hannah Routh
Director, Sustainability and Climate Change at PwC

Hannah is a climate change and green finance specialist with 20 years of experience in the field. She leads the Sustainability and Climate Change consulting practice for PwC China, advising clients across all sectors on environmental, social and governance (ESG) risk and opportunity. Hannah sits on the green finance working group of Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) in Hong Kong. In 2015 she co-authored ‘Bridging the gap – aligning the responsible investment interests of limited partners and general partners.’

Prior to 2011, Hannah was Managing Director of Camco Advisory in Beijing for five years. Here she led numerous projects to advise governments and companies on climate policy and low carbon project finance. She advised the Chinese, UK, US and Norwegian governments on the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), emissions trading and cleantech financing.  She further led a due diligence team carrying out environmental and social pre-deal reviews for financial institutions. Her longer-term background is in clean energy and environmental building design.

Hannah holds two masters degrees from the University of Manchester, the first in Physics with French and the second in Environmental Management and Pollution Control. She is a recovering scientist who has developed sustainable energy and cleantech businesses and projects in Europe, Southern Africa and China. Her mother tongue is English and she speaks fluent French, passable SiSwati and basic Mandarin Chinese.
