This webinar series provides a platform for students and families to learn directly from experts about the characteristics of the Canadian curriculum, pathways to higher and further education, how to prepare for studying in Canada, and more! The Canadian International School of Hong Kong and the University of British Columbia will explain the importance of a Canadian education and the opportunities it creates. Additionally, receive legal and immigration advice from Weir & Associates for new immigrants looking for study permits or returning Canadians for ongoing studies. Join the Chamber's Education Committee on Thursday 25th March to learn how the Canadian brand works in the world of education!

Based in The University of British Columbia’s Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) in Hong Kong, Sven has advised students throughout Asia and Europe over the past decade and has worked at UBC over the past 15 years. As a graduate of the Canadian University system, Sven is able to provide both a student and employee point of view of the Canadian University experience and the value of a Canadian education.

Olivia Dong is a qualified Hong Kong solicitor. She was born and raised in Canada.  She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Psychology from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, B.C., followed by her Juris Doctor degree and P.C.LL from the City University of Hong Kong. Ms. Dong is an active member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as well as the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Dong currently practices in areas of immigration (inbound/outbound of Hong Kong), taxation, corporate/commercial, civil litigation, trust and estate planning. She speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin and has a basic knowledge of French.

 


Dr. Tim Kaiser
Upper School Principal
Canadian International School of Hong Kong
Dr. Kaiser has been at the Canadian International School of Hong for 24 years. He began as a teacher when the school was much smaller on a different campus and is now the Principal of the CDNIS Upper School on its beautiful Aberdeen campus, serving 1,800 students. Dr. Kaiser holds degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, the University of Hong Kong, and his doctorate is from the University of Bristol. As a proud Canadian, Dr. Kaiser sees the critical role CDNIS plays amongst Canadian and non-Canadian families in Hong Kong.
 

ABOUT THE MODERATOR


Christopher Ng

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong
Christopher possesses extensive knowledge of the education sector, with over 15 years of educational management experience across Hong Kong, Macau, Canada and Belgium. He specializes in education strategy, school setup and consultancy, project co-creation and fundraising, and development of teacher CPD programmes. Chris has collaborated with numerous local public schools, academics, government, NGO’s and the private sector. His current unit at the British Council trains over 1000 local teachers and staff per year across a variety of industries, focusing on English language, soft skills and digital literacy. He has previously set up and managed multiple language learning centres and film schools, and has operated a teacher recruitment agency that has provided hundreds of Native English Teachers from the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand for local schools and institutes across Hong Kong.
