Chair's Welcome Message

Welcome to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong!
歡迎來到香港加拿大商會
Bienvenue à la Chambre de commerce du Canada à Hong Kong !

Dear Members and Friends,

It is a privilege to welcome you to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and an honour to begin my term as Chair for 2026–2028.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is one of the largest and most active international business chambers in the Asia-Pacific region. With over 3,200 members, CanCham brings together Canadian businesses, professionals and friends of Canada to connect, exchange ideas and pursue opportunities across Hong Kong, Canada and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The Chamber is also part of a broader Canadian community in Hong Kong of more than 350,000 people, creating an exceptional network of personal, professional and commercial connections between Canada and Hong Kong.

For nearly five decades, CanCham has played an important role in bringing this community together. As we approach the Chamber’s 50th anniversary next year, we have a unique opportunity to celebrate our legacy, recognize the people and achievements that have shaped CanCham, and look confidently towards its future.

I would like to thank Alex Tam, our immediate past Chair, Governors, Officers, Executive Committee members, Committee Chairs and Secretariat teams whose leadership and dedication have built the strong foundation on which the Chamber stands today. Their contributions have helped establish CanCham as a respected, connected and influential voice for the Canadian business community in Hong Kong.

Building on this foundation, the Chamber’s strategic focus for 2026–2028 will centre on three priorities:

  • Strengthening our community and developing future leaders by deepening member engagement, growing membership and developing the next generation of Chamber leadership.

  • Creating insights, connections and business opportunities through relevant programming, thought leadership and access to commercial networks.

  • Reinforcing CanCham’s Influence through constructive engagement with governments, institutions and business partners in Canada, Hong Kong and across Asia.

At the heart of CanCham is the value it creates for its members. The Chamber provides a trusted platform for members to build relationships, raise their visibility, exchange knowledge and identify new business opportunities.

Our signature events, programs and community initiatives bring this platform to life, including:

  • The Transpacific Entrepreneurial Conference

  • The CanChamHK Annual Ball

  • The Affiliate Alumni Membership Program

  • CanChamHK Clean Up

  • The Mentorship Program with its skills building curriculum

  • The Leadership Series

Our 11 industry and special-interest committees are the lifeblood of the Chamber. They provide members with opportunities to contribute their expertise, develop relationships and engage with the issues that matter to their businesses and industries.

I strongly encourage our members to get involved, whether by participating in our events and programs, joining a committee, contributing their knowledge and networks, or sharing their ideas and feedback with the Chamber. CanCham’s continued success depends on the active participation and perspectives of its members.

Hong Kong’s unique position at the heart of Asia also gives the Chamber an important role to play. As a Super Connector between Canada, Hong Kong and the rest of Asia, Hong Kong provides a powerful platform for Canadian companies, entrepreneurs and professionals seeking to build relationships and pursue opportunities across the region.

Its strengths as an international financial centre, global asset and wealth-management hub, centre for innovation and technology, and gateway to Mainland China further reinforce that role. CanCham is well positioned to help members navigate these opportunities by connecting people, businesses and ideas across markets.

Again, a special thank you to our Governors, Officers, Executive Committee, Committee Chairs, Secretariat, sponsors, partners and, most importantly, our members. Your engagement, support and contributions are what make CanCham a thriving, connected and diverse international business community.

As CanCham prepares to enter its next fifty years, we look forward to building on this strong foundation and ensuring that the Chamber remains connected, influential and relevant for generations to come.

I look forward to working with you and hearing your ideas for the future of our Chamber.

Yours sincerely,

Rosemary Goater
