The Hong Kong Business Delegation to Chongqing

The Hong Kong Business Delegation to Chongqing last week was a huge success, thanks to the invitation from the Chongqing Municipal Government with the help of Vice Chair Ross Li’s coordinating of the event. From 22nd-24th April, over three days, our delegation participated in the following activities:
- a wonderful night cruise showcasing Chongqing’s famous night cityscape along the Yangtze River accompanied with a drone show featuring 5500 drones
- a visit to the Chongqing City Planning Exhibition Hall, which covers over 2000 years+ of Chongqing’s history, together with its future planning as an essential western hub in China
- a visit to Seres, one of the world’s most advanced and fully automated Electric Vehicle manufacturing super factories
- a visit to Lee & Man Paper industrial park in Yongchuan Chongqing, its establishment 20 years ago was labeled as the first HK based investment to surpassed 10 billion RMB in the area.
- Vice Chair Ross Li represented the chamber and delivered a speech at an exclusive closed-door meeting with Mr. Yuan, the Party Secretary of Chongqing.
- Attended a huge Symposium featuring 300+ HK entrepreneurs and 200+ Chongqing governmental officials, with 8 well known speakers from HK sharing their insights and expectations for future collaborating in Chongqing
- Attended at two official banquets, including one official luncheon in Chongqing, and another dinner banquet in Yongchuan district.
Key takeaways:
- In view of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to Beijing in January 2026, the improved relationship between Canada and China is clearly felt during the visit. Our Cancham delegation was warmly welcomed in various activities, allowing in-depth exchanges between our delegation members and our welcoming host from the Chongqing municipal government.
- The well covered itineraries allowed our delegations members to witness the latest growth in Chongqing firsthand, and to investigate business opportunities offered with an open arm by Chongqing and China.
- With the strong participation of major chambers and organizations in Hong Kong, it allowed our delegation members to strengthen their business network, enhances cross-chamber collaboration and elevates their influence in the Hong Kong business circle. Key participants amongst the 300+ people full delegation includes:
HKCPPCCMA – HK CPPCC Members Association
FHKI – Federation of Hong Kong Industries
CMA – Chinese Manufacturer’s Association
PolyU – The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
PIEAA – HK Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors
HKBAA – Hong Kong Business Accountants Association

Great to see a strong turnout of 14 members, officers Ross Li, Eddie Look, Vivien Chan on behalf of Chair Alex Tam, Exco members Frank Yam, Committee co-chair Kara Cheung and Simon Yu, together with Cancham members participating in these 3 days event, making it one of the highlights of the year for China visits.
