About the Event:

Canada today

Canada has a new government, new priorities and new global challenges. The new government's first budget set out their plans and their challenges. The weakening global economy and deepening oil price slump is hurting Canadian growth and impacting government budgets. The refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East has generated government commitments to welcome sizeable number of Syrian refugees. The impact of climate change has been met by Canadian leadership to reduce the country's carbon footprint. With rising geopolitical tensions, we will see a more active Canada internationally. And, with the IMF warning of slowing long term growth in most advanced countries, the government is committed to unveiling a new long term growth plan by its second budget in 2017.

The challenges are real, the expectations are high and the implementation will be key. The presentation by Dr. Lynch will look at ‎Canada today, with a new government and new priorities, in the context of the changing world.
