ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Brett Free

Deputy Director

Brett Free is Deputy Director of the Information Services Department, where he has worked for 28 years. He is responsible for co-ordinating and supervising the Government's public relations outside Hong Kong as well as local publicity, creative design and publishing efforts. He supervises the Public Relations Outside Hong Kong Division, including BrandHK, and the Publicity and Promotions Divisionincluding the Creative, Local Promotions and International Promotions sub-divisions. He also oversees the department's general administration including personnel and financial matters, staff deployment, technical services, information technology systems, and training of the IO grade. Brett has lived in Hong Kong for 31 years and prior to joining the Government worked for more than 13 years as a journalist in Australia, the UK and
Hong Kong.
 


Stephen Phillips
Director-General, Investment Promotion

Mr. Stephen Phillips is the Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the Government Department responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment into Hong Kong. In a career focused on Asia for more than thirty years, Mr Phillips first moved to Hong Kong in 1989 holding senior investment banking positions with Deutsche and BZW/Barclays Capital before co-founding a Hong Kong-based group of companies providing IT, financial and consultancy services across Asia. In 2004, he joined the UK’s Department of International Trade before becoming the Chief Executive of the China Britain Business Council in 2006, as well as Chairman of the EU China Business Association.
