About the Event:

Following the UK’s historic decision to leave the EU there is significant uncertainty from a tax and political perspective, the seminar will provide an overview of the political climate and the mechanism for the UK’s exit. Paired with a discussion of the key tax and non-tax considerations for companies following the UK decision to leave the EU, a wider update on recent EU and UK tax changes will provide expectations for the UK’s future relationship with the EU.

Billy Thorne
Senior Manager, Ernst & Young

Billy earned his legal bachelor's degree in taxation and revenue law from the University of Bournemouth. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is a Chartered Tax Advisor. Billy has extensive experience of the delivery of UK corporate tax advisory, compliance and audit engagements.

Billy relocated to Singapore in January 2016, to take up a role on the UK tax desk for the APAC region. Previously Billy was a Senior Manager within the London Mid Markets team providing compliance, tax accounting and advisory services to a wide range of clients. Billy then joined EY from a mid tier firm in 2011 and has 11 years experience of working in UK corporate tax.

Billy advises a wide spectrum of clients ranging from large multinational Plc’s to privately owned UK groups and has significant experience of working with UK inbound and outbound clients. Recent advisory projects include, group restructuring advice, tax DD reviews, residency reviews, controlled foreign company reviews, Diverted Profit Tax reviews, intercompany loan balance rationalisation advice and patent box feasibility reports.

Yee Man Tang
Senior Manager, – Dutch/Europe Tax Desk | Asia Pacific Tax Center, Ernst & Young

Yee Man is a senior manager heading the Dutch/Europe Tax Desk based in Beijing with a primary focus on tax structuring and tax advising on Chinese/Taiwanese outbound investments worldwide in particular into and via the Netherlands (and Europe). Yee Man joined EY (Amsterdam office in the Netherlands ) in 2006. She holds a Master of Law degree and a Master of Fiscal Law degree from the University of Utrecht.Yee Man is a full member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (“Nederlandse Orde van Belastingadviseurs”).

Yee Man is an International tax practitioner (with a Dutch tax background). She has more than 10 years of cross-border tax experience. In the Netherlands, Yee Man has worked with many US, Asian and European (inbound) clients on providing international tax advice and tax planning. Also, she is one of the core members of the China Business Services (CBS) and the E&Y Taiwan Business Services (TBS) teams that serve clients from these respective jurisdictions in the combined fields of tax, legal and audit. In 2008, Yee Man was seconded to the Dutch desk of the Ernst & Young New York office. During her secondment, Yee Man advised on Dutch international tax aspects and in particular on the Netherlands as holding and through-bound jurisdiction for US multinationals, as well as private equity funds.
uAs from November 2011, Yee Man has been seconded to Beijing, China. She is the first Dutch/Europe tax desk member based in Beijing focusing on Chinese outbound and inbound investment tax structuring. In the past five years she has built up extensive experience in assisting Chinese State Owned and Privately Owned enterprises with their overseas investment tax structuring worldwide.

Yee Man’s experience covers a wide range of industries, including a variety of sectors such as the oil and gas, online-games, consumer products, high-tech sector, (financial) services, chemicals, private equity, energy, power, automotive and media sectors.
