ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Patricia Elliott
Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner
Consulate General of Canada, Hong Kong and Macao

Patricia assumed the position of Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong in September 2019. She served as the Regional Director and Senior Trade Commissioner for the Prairies and Northwest Territories, Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development since October 2012, and as the Senior Trade Commissioner for Alberta. 

With a background in strategic planning and fluently bilingual in English and French, Patricia Elliott studied Communications at Université Laval and has also worked with Industry Canada, Canadian Heritage, National Defence and Elections Canada/International Affairs.

Stephen is considered a subject matter expert in the field, frequently asked to speak as a panelist, moderator and lecturer.

 

Eren Sari

Prior to joining Green and Spiegel LLP, Eren managed HSBC’s Premier Branch in Toronto where he assisted international clients with settlement in Canada. Eren’s retail banking experience with international clients led him to take a role with HSBC’s Global Investor Immigration Services, offering seminars and other educational programs overseas in order to identify and connect with professionals exploring Canadian immigration options. His knowledge of Canadian business and immigration practices led him to assignments in Eastern Europe and the Middle East where he assisted professionals in exploring their options for immigrating to Canada. 

 

Hon Lam

Hon’s career has been focused on the airline industry with more than 15 years of commercial and operational experience across different work streams. Hon started his aviation career in inflight services with Cathay Pacific. He then spent more than 10 years with British Airways starting as a management trainee in the UK. During his time at BA, he held a series of key operational and commercial roles in the UK, China and Hong Kong, including London Heathrow customer services, cargo, and later on filling a series of commercial leadership roles in sales and business development in Hong Kong and China. After BA, Hon spent two years at Virgin Atlantic as their commercial manager, before he joined Air Canada.

Sophia Chan-Combrink

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong

Sophia Chan-Combrink is the Executive Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. As such, Sophia is accountable for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber’s full-time staff in implementing its strategic and financial plans. She was previously the Head of Education and Society at the British Council providing strategic leadership to the East Asia region, including Hong Kong. Sophia has over 20 years of experience working in the private, government and non-profit sectors in Hong Kong, Canada and South Africa. From Toronto, Sophia holds a Masters of Environmental Studies from York University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.
