Chamber President Philip Leung to Step Down in September 2016

CANCHAM Chamber News

Dear Members and Friends,

I would like to let you know that I have decided not to seek a renewal of my employment agreement with The Canadian Chamber as its full-time President when it ends in mid-September. I will therefore plan to leave my current position on September 15, 2016.

Since joining CanCham in 2013, I have tremendously enjoyed working with a very supportive Exco under the leadership of our current Chairman Mr. Lawrence Nutting, and previously Mr. John Witt. Under their leadership, CanCham is a very invigorating organization indeed. In particular, I take tremendous pride and satisfaction in having successfully developed high-quality events, and embracing an active advocacy role on behalf of our members. We have also engaged other organizations with similar goals and objectives – the most important one is of course the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong. It is one of our staunchest partners, and I am grateful to CG Mr. Ian Burchett as well as STC Ms. Lynn McDonald for making this partnership work so well.

I will immediately work with the Chamber’s leadership on succession. I will help the leadership to bring a successor on board before leaving this position to ensure that there will be a smooth handover. After stepping off, I intend on joining CanCham as a member.

I look forward to a smooth succession by September, and to staying in touch subsequently as your fellow CanCham member!
