Jacques Daoust

Minister of the Economy, Innovation, and Exports
Government of Québec
Jacques Daoust holds a BA from the Université de Montréal, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal, and an MBA from Université Laval. He is also a Fellow, Institute of Canadian Bankers, awarded solely to leaders in the banking sector.

During his career, he has occupied several very senior positions in major institutions such as National Bank of Canada and Laurentian Bank. He has also served as President of Laurentian Trust and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Laurentian Bank Securities. Moreover, he has served as President and CEO of LBC – Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management, which is now part of the Industrial Alliance Financial Group. He was the President and CEO of Investissement Québec and oversaw its merge with the Société générale de financement du Québec.

In the course of his career, Jacques Daoust has sat on more than 25 boards of directors. He has received a number of awards and honours. By way of an example, in 2009, the Association des MBA du Québec named him the MNA of the year.

On April 7, 2014, he was elected MNA for Verdun and was subsequently appointed Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports.
