About the Event:

 

La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is a long-term institutional investor that manages funds primarily for public pension and insurance plans. As of June 30, 2014, it held CAD$214.7 billion in net assets. As one of Canada’s leading institutional fund managers, La Caisse invests in major financial markets, private equity, infrastructure and real estate, globally.

 

As part of its strategy to extend its reach globally, la Caisse opened an office in Singapore in 2014 and appointed Mr. Édouard Merette to the position of Managing Director, Asia-Pacific.

 

Mr. Merette will share how Canada’s second-biggest pension manager intends to broadening its international approach by developing La Caisse's investments in Asia.

Édouard MERETTE
Managing Director Asia Pacific, Caisse de Dépôts & Placements du Québec.

Mr. Merette has a track record in corporate management in Canada, Europe and Asia. Before joining La Caisse, Mr. Merette's was Chief Executive Officer, Asia-Pacific, with Aon Hewitt. He was a member of the global management committee of Aon Corporation’s consulting division and oversaw the offices in the region (Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand). Mr. Merette also worked for Mercer for more than 20 years. He was a member of its global management committee and oversaw operations in Europe, Asia and Canada. Mr. Merette is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and of the Chicago-based Society of Actuaries. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and actuarial science from Université Laval. He taught risk theory at his Alma Mater and at Université de Montréal. Mr. Merette has resided in Singapore for almost 15 years
