Join us for the annual AmCham Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) Forum – a stimulating and unique half-day event that will help you and your organization advance beyond the crowd. 
           
Speakers will share their strategic knowledge and experiences leading you through the life cycle of a business; from strategy creation to planning the exit.  The speakers have all been selected based on their expertise and successful track record of working in an SME environment, they include:

About the speakers:

Jim Haybyrne, Chairman & CEO, Strategic Thinking Group

James Haybyrne, a former Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, New York, has over 30 years’ experience in international management consulting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Systems Management and a Master of Science Degree in Organization Development from the University of Southern California. He has consulted on strategy with over 120 CEOs and their executive leadership terms and has worked in over 30 countries. His many strategy clients include Philips, National Semiconductor, New York Life, The Peninsula Hotel Group, China Airlines, Bayer, Prudential (U.K.) and Lane Crawford. He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in India.



Tom Gorman, Chairman & Editor-In-Chief, FORTUNE China

Tom Gorman is Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Fortune China magazine and CCI Asia-Pacific Ltd.Fortune China has been published by CCI under exclusive license from Time Inc. since 1996. A native of Chicago and graduate of Princeton University’s East Asian Studies Department, Gorman has been a Hong Kong resident since 1974. His first visit to the Chinese mainland was in 1975, and he has been a frequent visitor since that time. A fluent Putonghua speaker, he has written and spoken extensively on doing business in China. He has been a consultant on China business strategy to various Fortune 500 companies.  In 2004, his book, “Magazine Publishing in China”, was published by American Business Media.  In 2012, he wrote a chapter in “My First Trip to China”, a collection of 30 essays by leading China hands recalling their first visits, published by Muse.  He is past Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and past board Chair of the Hong Kong International School. He is a member of the EMBA Advisory Group of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of The China Economic Quarterly. He is a member of the board of directors of The Duihua Foundation, the Beijing Center for Chinese Studies, a Trustee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong Charitable Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board of the Hong Kong Branch of International Social Service, and of Vision 2047.

Simon Squibb, CEO & Founder, NEST Investments

As an angel investor for over 18 years,Simon Squibb is dedicated to bringing ideas to life and helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in Hong Kong achieve their dreams. As founder of multi award-winning, globally respected creative agency, fluid, Simon worked with an impressive list of clients and partner brands including Estée Lauder China, Fortune, CNN, Wall Street Journal Asia, Li & Fung, Citibank China and Starbucks.As CEO of Nest Investments, Simon leverages his extensive network and experience to mentor and develop Hong Kong based start-ups and entrepreneurs.

  
Elizabeth Thomson, Chairwoman & Founder, The Amber Foundation Ltd

Elizabeth L. Thomson describes herself as "a lawyer by profession an entrepreneur by choice "! She earned the degrees of LL.B and B.C.L. from the McGill Faculty of Law and sits on the Board of Advisors of the Faculty. Elizabeth is a member of the Law Societies of Upper Canada (Ontario), England and Wales, Hong Kong and Australia.She is a Governor of the American Chamber as well as of the Canadian Chamber in Hong Kong.  She was a founding member of the Entrepreneur committees in both chambers and currently active in both. She founded the Women Business Owners Club and was a founding director of The Women's Foundation. She is a Director of various private companies in both Hong Kong and Canada.  Elizabeth was "Entrepreneur of the Year" 2008 awarded by the American Chamber. Elizabeth came to Hong Kong in 1977 on a vacation and was hired to handle an international bankruptcy involving manufacturing in the PRC and Taiwan and sales to Europe, the US and Canada. She then worked for a small private bank based in Hong Kong with periods in Germany to run a subsidiary, the Philippines, Bangkok, Singapore, Sydney and Washington, DC. She was Legal counsel and in charge of Private client service.  In 1980 she started ICS TRUST on her dining room table in Hong Kong subsequently growing the company to a multi million dollar international operation which was then sold in 2012. The company was a pioneer in servicing private clients from all over the world with family trusts, foundations and all related banking and legal services. ICS TRUST combined all professional services (legal-accounting-tax-banking-trade) under one roof for N. American and European clients doing business in China and using Hong Kong as a Gateway for exporting or importing products.  Ms. Thomson is active with various charitable endeavour including Women's entrepreneurship and international business matters.
