About the Event:

Since the implementation of the new companies ordinance on March 3rd 2014, Hong Kong companies are going through one of their first ever in-depth regulation changes in terms of corporate governance. Some of the key changes introduced are: change of the director’s status, abolishment of the authorized capital, abolishment of the share par value, which is all seen as modernizing the law, facilitating businesses and continuing to have Hong Kong as one of the top 10 financial/business centers worldwide.

The objective of this presentation is to provide the main changes and resulting consequences of the updated companies ordinance, as well as the eventual goal that is to be achieved in the long-term by these changes.  Lastly we will be looking at Hong Kong compared to Singapore and the new free trade zones in China and how the changes in the Hong Kong companies ordinance will continue to provide more advantages to companies that are looking to enter the Asia Pacific region via Hong Kong rather than these two other jurisdictions.
