About the Event:

Recently, InvestHK has increasingly supported smaller, entrepreneur-led businesses to set up and expand in Hong Kong; but at the same time some of the world's largest companies are now choosing to put not just regional offices, but certain global functions here. We will give an update on which source markets these investors are from and which sectors they are in.

We would also like to take this opportunity to discuss the resources and support that are available to SMEs, entrepreneurs and small business in Hong Kong.
The Discussion Forum will start with Mr. Simon Galpin's presentation followed by discussions of the Panel. He will be joined by three other guest speakers:
  • Philip Chiu, Director, International Business Banking, HSBC
  • Mr. BK Chow, Honorary Secretary of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Small and Medium Business (HKGCSMB)
  • Theodore Ma, Co-Founder at CoCoon-Born to Fly Ltd., Director of e-Commerce at MaBelle Jewellery Co. Ltd; and Innovator/Director of Dorical Ltd.

No other competitors in Asia offer comparable integrated services.

In 2012, Theodore co-founded Born to Fly with his family. This company runs CoCoon, an incubatory center for startups and an idea exchange platform that aims to reinvigorate the entrepreneurial spirit in Hong Kong and to stimulate the creation of innovative jobs.

In the first phase towards this goal, Theodore and his team have created a physical community of entrepreneurs by providing one of the first and largest co-working spaces in the city. CoCoon hosts monthly Pitch Nights and various events to bridge established business owners and investors with up-and-coming entrepreneurs.
