The Technology Committee
is proud to present the first of our Future Trends series that will look at
bleeding-edge aspects of technology. These will include crypto
currencies, social network killswitches and wearable technologies. We
invite all technology enthusiasts, people in the financial and technology
industries (and anyone else besides) to join us for an evening of insight into
the current state of Bitcoin and how it can radically change Hong Kong, for
better or for worse.
In this talk, computational astrophysicist turned investment banker Joseph Wang
will slice through some of the hype, debunk some myths and share his
experiences developing open-source financial software for Bitcoin
trading. He will explain why Bitcoin is a dangerous, terrible investment
that most people shouldn't touch, why that's a good thing and share his
thoughts gathered while observing Bitcoin.

About the Speaker:
Chief Science Officer of Bitquant Research Laboratories
Joseph Wang is the chief science officer of Bitquant Research Laboratories. He served as a vice president in the quantitative research division of JPMorgan in both Hong Kong and New York City and has over has 20 years of experience as a software developer. He has a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelors in physics from MIT.
