FSC Presents: The Yale Endowment Investment Model in an Asian Context

Over the last 25 years, the “Endowment Model” was pioneered by Yale and followed by the top American university endowments to deliver high levels of returns through investment in a range of alternatives. Universities can rely on a predictable return on investments that is sustainable. At the same time, endowments have grown in size as alternative investments have delivered annual returns that are 10% or more higher than traditional public investments in equities and bonds.

About the Event:

Over the last 25 years, the “Endowment Model” was pioneered by Yale and followed by the top American university endowments to deliver high levels of returns through investment in a range of alternatives. Universities can rely on a predictable return on investments that is sustainable. At the same time, endowments have grown in size as alternative investments have delivered annual returns that are 10% or more higher than traditional public investments in equities and bonds. These investments are relatively illiquid and increasingly global, including a range of operating companies and real assets. During this event, Jim Hildebrandt will look at how well this approach performed during the financial downturn, and how applicable it can be to an Asian family or pension plan.
