part two of our three part Big Data series. Part one introduced us to all you
need to know on the topic of Big Data. Now part two covers how businesses are
using and can use Big Data.
Scott Drummonds returns
and is joined by Sai Chin Li of KPMG to show you how major businesses are
utilizing Big Data to enhance their operations and are looking toward the
future. Our two speakers will also highlight how ALL businesses can use
information from their customers, social networking, digital sensors, and
thousands of other sources to make and save lots of money.
Scott and Sai will also
help us gain an understanding of how revenue is being increased and
inefficiencies phased out through this process. Big Data may sound like a pure
technology vehicle but in this part of the series we will be able to learn how
this area is being utilized in every vertical from health care to
manufacturing to finance to retail. These different sectors have gone through
a similar process: understanding Big Data and implementing it.
About the Speakers:
Scott Drummonds is a 15-year veteran of the IT industry. He started developing computer aided design (CAD) tools at Intel before leading a desktop performance benchmarking team there. Later he lead VMware's performance technical marketing team. Scott came to Asia in 2010 to lead EMC's virtualization and cloud specialist sales team. He left EMC in 2013 as the lead of that specialist team as well as EMC's big data storage specialist sales team.
Scott currently lives in Hong Kong and is in the midst of a one-year sabbatical. He is studying Mandarin at Chinese University of Hong Kong, working with the activist organization Open Data Hong Kong, creating a Hong Kong Big Data community, and evangelizing big data in Hong Kong and Asia through Information Incognita.
Sai Chin Li
Sai has over 14 years of IT experience with
extensive experience in data analytics, data warehousing, business intelligence
and management information. He has been helping his clients globally with
leveraging data to drive business decisions and growth. Sai has a
technical background and a track record for successful implementations of large
and complex global projects, in addition, Sai covers the full spectrum of
services related to data analytics such as developing realistic strategies that
can be delivered, establishing governance models, and defining corporate and
Sai also has experience in CRM and combined
with data analytics, his experience in customer segmentation, customer
centricity and customer analytics is one of his key area of
specialization. Customer analytics is a hot topic that most organizations
are discussing, especially in the Chinese market where knowing your customers
and potential customers in such a large population is key to gaining
Sai came from the UK where he spent most of
his career with large global consulting firms in both Management Consulting and
System Implementers. He transferred from the London KPMG office to HK 19
months ago with the goal to strengthening the HK Data & Analytics practice.
