of Facebook and is used in many other verticals. This
discipline allows businesses to understand more about the world around them in
a way that traditional methods can't handle.
It is also an area that
many don't fully understand, don't appreciate the value and certainly don't
know why it should be feared in the wrong hands. That’s why the area has
already created heroes and villains.
About the Speaker:
Scott Drummonds is
a 15-year veteran of the IT industry. He started developing computer
aided design (CAD) tools at Intel before leading a desktop performance
benchmarking team there. Later he lead VMware's performance technical
marketing team. Scott came to Asia in 2010 to lead EMC's virtualization
and cloud specialist sales team. He left EMC in 2013 as the lead of that
specialist team as well as EMC's big data storage specialist sales team.
currently lives in Hong Kong and is in the midst of a one-year sabbatical.
He is studying Mandarin at Chinese University of Hong Kong, working with
the activist organization Open Data Hong Kong, creating a Hong Kong Big Data
community, and evangelizing big data in Hong Kong and Asia through Information
