Making his only appearance in Hong Kong, 2-time Emmy nominee Michael Tippett will share his two-decades long experience in the evolution of Vancouver’s startup scene, what it takes to run a successful start-up accelerator and his new venture wantoo, a platform that makes it easy to collect, prioritize, and act on customer feedback.
 
Michael Tippett has been a successful entrepreneur for almost two decades, having founded and managed several early-stage technology companies in Vancouver and New York. In 2005 he founded and later sold Nowpublic, which was named one of the top five most useful new sites on the web by The Guardian and Time magazine named it one of the Top 50 Websites for 2007. In 2011 he ran GrowLab, a Vancouver-based start-up accelerator offering seed funding, office space, mentorship and programming. From 2013 to 2015, Michael ran Hootsuite Labs and was later Director of New Product. Michael is also on the Provincial Steering Committee for Startup Canada also donates his time to run Vancouver’s Startup Weekend. Back in the day he graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Philosophy.
 
As a last-minute event, there will be no charge for attendance. This talk will be preceded by a short update on events and other business by the Chair of the Technology Committee at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
