About the Event:

What does Hong Kong's Transport Strategy look like as we approach a new decade? What technology is available to assist with this forward planning? How will this impact on our environment in the future?

Set against the city's iconic skyline, the inaugural Hong Kong e-Prix will be part of the third season of the FIA Formula E Championship, the world's first fully-electric racing series and a ground-breaking innovation in sport and entertainment - minus the emissions.

The majority of greenhouse gas emissions in Hong Kong arise from power generation and energy consumption, which can be reduced through decreasing the energy demand, by using energy sources with lower carbon content, and changing the way energy is consumed. To achieve a reduction in carbon emissions, Hong Kong will need to adopt low carbon development strategies as other developed countries have, such as wider deployment of energy saving technologies in buildings, transport systems, and industries, and the adoption of energy efficient products within the market.

In order to lower the oil-based products consumption and GHG emissions of automobiles and transport vehicles, the deployment of energy efficient or alternative-fuel transport may provide the right choice. Will these vehicles become a mainstream option after 2020?

Taking the opportunity of coinciding with Hong Kong's first e-Prix, we have invited a high-flying panel to discuss Hong Kong's transportation outlook in the foreseeable future and talk about:

- Hong Kong's current transport strategy;
- Environmental impact:
Infrastructure and technology that will change Hong Kong for the better;
- Smart City:
Future technology that can progress transportation transformation faster
