About the Event:

The economic and urban development of the Pearl River Delta over the last 25 years has been phenomenal. What role has Hong Kong played, what are the trends and what role will Hong Kong play in the future? This talk will examine the economic and spatial development of the Pearl River Delta, consider economic and planning policy, both in the Mainland and in Hong Kong, specifically referring to the government’s “Hong Kong 2030+ Planning and Vison Strategy”, and provide insights into Hong Kong's future role and position.

Alan Macdonald
Director, Urbis Limited

Alan has been with the company since 1990. Prior to joining Urbis, Alan undertook assignments in South America, the Middle East and sub Saharan Africa. Alan has accumulated extensive experience of master planning, rural and urban planning, urban design, waterfront planning, urban renewal, demographic analysis, low income housing projects, rail planning, rail related property development, and project management.

Since coming to Hong Kong Alan has undertaken assignments in the Hong Kong SAR, mainland China, the Middle East, and South West and South East Asia. Clients include National Governments, Private Developers, Rail Corporations and international development agencies such as the World Bank and the Asia Development Bank. A significant number of the assignments for which Alan has been responsible have received regional and international awards.
