Announces the Appointment of Derrick Lee as President

Hong Kong, August 29, 2016– The Chairman of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (the “Chamber”), Lawrence Nutting, today announced that Derrick Lee has been appointed as the Chamber’s full-time President. As head of the Chamber’s Secretariat, he will work with the Chamber’s Executive Committee to deliver programs and services that will further the objectives of the Chamber’s members and strengthen the Canadian business community in Hong Kong. Mr. Lee brings over 20 years of experience working with government departments and multi-national corporations from Canada, Hong Kong and the United States. He specializes in strategic planning, business development, public relations and stakeholder engagement.

“We are very pleased that Derrick has joined us” said Mr. Lawrence Nutting, Chairman of the Chamber. “His leadership experience in both the public and private sector combined with his deep knowledge of the Canadian business environment and his extensive network will contribute greatly to the capability and vitality of the Chamber which is already one of the most active international chambers in Hong Kong and one of the largest Canadian business associations outside of Canada’ he added.”

Prior to joining the Chamber, Mr. Lee worked as theHeadof Passport Section at the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong since 2009. Before that, he held various management and advisory positions at the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada, Transport Canada, Invest Hong Kong, State of California Office of the Governor, TD Waterhouse Brokerage and Canada Trust Financial Services.

Mr. Lee is a Fellow Certified Management Accountant and Certified Management Consultant. He is a graduate of the Stanford Senior Executive Leadership program, and obtained his Master of International and Public Affairs degree at the University of Hong Kong and his Bachelor degree in International Business at Athabasca University in Canada.

Mr. Lee is trilingual (English, Chinese and French), and he actively serves in the community in non-profit and non-government organizations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Oxfam Hong Kong, StanfordSELP Alumni Association, Institute of Certified Management Accountants and Animals Asia Foundation. Mr. Lee is passionate about education, youth development and trade.

Prior to working in Hong Kong in 2001, Mr. Lee lived in Edmonton and Ottawa in Canada since the early 1980’s.

Founded in 1977, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is a proactive, non-government body that provides an extensive networking platform for some 1,000 members with business interests in Canada, Hong Kong, Mainland China, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
