About the Course:
The Chamber in partnership with The Communication Group has been offering this Course to

The Management Team of the Communication Group Ltd. has been involved in Communication Consultancy in Hong Kong
for over 25 years and is fully aware of the language requirements of companies needing to do business in Hong Kong, the PRC and Taiwan. The main clients of the Communication Group are major "blue chip" companies in Hong Kong.
The Putonghua (Mandarin) Foundation Course is for very busy people in business and their partners who want to learn to speak useful Putonghua within a short period of time; people who have little or no Putonghua at all and want to speak appropriate, educated,
business Putonghua in a variety of different situations, both social and work-related.
The Course is a modern approach to the learning of Putonghua. It will provide an understanding of the structure of Putonghua
based on participants′ knowledge of the structure of English.
It does not start with the repetition of the tones of Putonghua in isolation from communication. It is a more effective method to start with understanding
the basic grammatical structures of Putonghua; then all you need to do is “slot in” the vocabulary. You pick up the tones as you practise the language in “real-life” situations just as the complexities of intonation, stress,
rhythm, tone and pronunciation are gradually mastered and improved in any language.
The Course focuses on equipping participants with the necessary language skills to cope with a series of common situations in
their business and social lives such as Making Introductions in Social and Business Situations, Asking for and Providing Information, Leaving Phone Messages, and Arranging Appointments. It also provides ways to communicate with Chinese people so that
they will respond warmly to you and choose the most precise and polite Putonghua for use in effective daily communication: also how to avoid "faux pas" in Putonghua!
