Speaker's Bio
Alan Diner, Head of
Baker & McKenzie's Canadian Global Mobility and Executive Transfer Group
Alan heads the Canadian Immigration group at Baker & McKenzie, the world′s most global law firm with offices in 69 cities around the world. Prior to joining Baker
& McKenzie, Alan served in a variety of positions in both the public and private sectors. In his past role as the inaugural Manager of Ontario′s Provincial Nominee Program, Alan helped to design and implement Ontario′s first-ever immigrant
selection program. Previous roles in government included coordinating the $920M Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement, and advising on investment and immigration, at Ontario′s immigration and trade ministries.
Alan's previous private
sector includes various areas of regulatory law, including business immigration, international trade and competition law at two of Canada′s largest law firms. He has published and lectured widely on immigration, trade and competition, and represented
clients at all levels of the IRB and Federal Court. Alan clerked for Mr. Justice Hugessen at the Federal Court of Appeal. He is a former member of the National Executive of the Canadian Bar Association's Immigration Section, and currently serves
on not-for-profit two boards. Alan is called to the bars of Ontario and New York, and holds an LL.M. in international trade and competition law.
