Robert Allender. Director, Energy Resources
Management
Rising energy bills, global warming, peak oil, and impending carbon taxes make energy use the most critical environmental management issue for most organisations. Since founding Energy Resources Management in 1992, Robert
has helped clients all around Asia to tackle that challenge by understanding, managing, and optimising their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
As early as 1994 Robert was providing clients with formal GHG reports, long before
the term ′carbon footprint′ came into common use. And even those earliest reports included carbon offset calculations, again long before the term ′carbon neutral′ achieved ′word of the year′ status. His work has
resulted in clients eliminating millions of gigajoules of previously wasted energy, saving millions of dollars of unnecessary energy expenditure, and avoiding uncounted tonnes of GHG discharge.
Originally a hotelier and a graduate of Cornell
University′s prestigious hotel school, Robert was later a pioneer in field of hotel computer systems before seeing the need Asia′s companies and institutions had for help in consuming energy more wisely.
Robert was the first person
in Asia to receive Certified Energy Manager accreditation from the Association of Energy Engineers and is a Fellow of the HKAEE.
